Barreto gets back passport, Bagan’s match rescheduled!
Mohun Bagan striker Jose Ramirez Barreto today got back his passport after a court ruling was issued in this regard. “Barasat Court today issued a directive to hand him (Barreto) over his passport,” Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra said.
The Brazilian’s passport was confiscated after he was arrested in March 2008 at the Kolkata airport for allegedly carrying dollars in excess of the permissible amount.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan’s AFC Cup match against the Syrian outfit Al Karama, which was earlier scheduled on May 7, will now be played on May 19 at the Howrah Stadium. The match had to be rescheduled with the fixture clashing with Lok Sabha polls in Howrah. Mohun Bagan will play their away tie against Al Wihdat of Jordan at King Abdullah International Stadium on May 5.
Bagan are languishing at the bottom of Group D and are yet to open their account.
